Book and press publishers

We assist publishers, editors and authors in legal matters. We advise on publications, copyright and licensing agreements, as well as on matters relating to press law and content liability.

Services for book and press publishers – from copyright to media law

We are ready to support book and press publishers in matters relating to copyright protection, related rights, press law and liability for content published in both traditional and digital media.

We help you publish safely

We verify publication risks – both in terms of copyright and personal rights infringements.

We create a framework for cooperation

We prepare and review copyright, publishing and licensing agreements. We assist in the transfer of rights and the use of third-party content.

We represent clients in disputes

We negotiate settlements and defend authors and publishers in cases involving violations of personal rights, image rights and copyright.

Experience

Drafting and negotiating book contracts

We have experience in drafting and negotiating publishing, licensing and translation agreements, as well as agreements concerning film and multimedia adaptation rights. We have advised on the acquisition of rights to publish literary works, photographs and illustrations. We have negotiated agreements concerning the film adaptation of literary works and options for the acquisition of such rights for film studios. We have participated in negotiations of agreements concerning the creation of commissioned books.

Digital media

We have advised on the digitisation, production and exploitation of e-books and audiobooks. We have supported publishers in the transformation of publishing models – the creation of subscription platforms and mobile applications. We understand the challenges facing the publishing industry, from market pressures to changing regulations, and offer practical, understandable and effective legal support.

Support for publishers' organisations

For many years, we have supported entities researching the press market in Poland – Polskie Badania Czytelnictwa (Polish Readership Research) and, previously, Związek Kontroli Dystrybucji Prasy (Press Distribution Control Association). We participated in developing a model for cooperation between these entities and publishers and business partners.

Disputes

We have represented publishers in disputes concerning violations of personal rights and image rights, as well as in disputes with authors and other participants in the publishing process. We have provided support in proceedings concerning press corrections, responses and publication bans, and have negotiated settlements.
